Nakuru National Park

Last Friday we had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Nakuru National Park. It is 188square kilometres in area. What amazing diversity in God's creation.

Thompson's Gazelle are members of the antelope family

Water Buffalo

Warthog

Elan, the largest of the antelope family

 Baboons

Common Zebras or Plains Zebras are the most abundant of three species of zebra and live in the grasslands of eastern and southern Africa.

A red-collared widowbird

Lesser Flamingos (there are Greater Flamingos hardly visible in the far distance and they are less pink)

A herd of male impala who live without females

and a herd of female impala who live with a dominant male. If you look carefully you can see his very big horns to the left of middle in this photo
.

Impalas are my favourite - so sleek and elegant.

These are Rothschild giraffes.

Until now I didn't know there were different types.

Our guide for the day was Langat and he was so patient while we took photos and very knowledgeable.
Thank you, Langat.
